Take off run is 1200m, and the plane climb easily with some rudder at 2000 fpm/150 with 10° flap. Then I shot down inner engine, always port side (2) and full rudder was needed to keep it straight: anyway it was capable to climb at 500 fpm/150 with 5° flap. Landing with full flap is difficult on a 3° glide because of flap drag, then in case of a double engine shot down follow a steeper glide (5°) with less flap (20°). ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SECTION D: NOTES/COMMENTS: 1) Avro RJ as well as the older model BAe 146 is a Short Take Off and Landing (STOL) plane. Then I made take off trial in both configuration: Normal (10° flap) and STOL (30° flap!) 2) Avro RJ/BAe146 has both lift dumpers as well as pure speedbrakes, unlike normal airliner. The latter are in use for steep approaches. Our AIR model has a TOO HIGHT spoiler drag, then I didn't use it in the air or on the ground because it is unreal. 3) The real Avro RJ/BAe 146 DOESN'T have any reverse unlike our model. Then I didn't use it in landing. 4) The Autopilot, after spoiler, is another problem of this plane. It is very slow in turns, so much that in approaches I prefered to close it and reactivate on the ILS ! It i good just for small turns. It is also very bad in Speed control: I spent ALL Bermuda- Orlando flight (near 3 houres) with engines running up and down between 80% and 90% N1 to keep Mach .7 !! 5) Suggested panel: Unlike BAe 146 that has a analogic avionic, the Avro is provided of an EFIS one (like the lastest BAe146 exemples). For them I suggest Arj_pnl.ZIP 6) Hope to see this good plane with new AP and new spoilers with new Cargo livery very soon ! Our RJ70QT as well as our RJ100QT are the only exemples of all cargo built by Avro. The model exist but nobody ordered it! The older model BAe 146-100QT -200QT -300QT was sold just in the last 2 version to TNT in several exemples. the QC version is Quick change and has cabin windowns.
